After working in various departments, Niels knew for sure. His passion lies in solving technical issues related to machinery. Discover Niels' story about his journey and development within AAE here.
''I came into contact with AAE through an open day at ROC ter AA and from the very first moment there was a good click. That is why I started working as a holiday worker at AAE alongside my study and also completed my internship here. This way I actually had a look at every department and got a feel of everything.''
The road to success
Niels is currently working as a Service Engineer and has worked hard to get to this position. For instance, in addition to his work at AAE, he started studying Technical Business Administration HBO. ''Every Thursday I had to go to school until 10 in the evening, which was really hard work'' says Niels with a smile.
One of the assignments Niels carried out for his course related to the Grauel brand, which is part of AAE. ''Grauel was still partly in Berlin at the time, but we were then going to bring Grauel to Helmond. In doing so, I was able to help set up the ERP system, among other things, but I was also able to use the set-up of the workshop for my assignment. It was a cool and tough project'' , says Niels proudly.
Niels looks back on the project and then easily makes the link to AAE's cultural values: Ambitious, Can-do, Human and Together. ''When I look at this project, there is not just one culture value to link it to. You really notice with a big job like this that all values come to the forefront. Especially when the deadline approaches, you notice that together with the team you all sail in the right direction and that this is how we achieve good solutions.''
Now Niels works as a service engineer and gets his energy from helping customers. Niels does not do this alone, but with a team of four Service Engineers. Together, they can pick up customer queries as quickly as possible. Niels travels all over the world to work in different countries on AAE's machines at customers' premises. Maintaining contact with the customer is very important. Especially because only together can we arrive at the right solution.''
Satisfaction and Ambition
Although Niels is very satisfied with his current role within AAE to manage projects within Service, he pays close attention to his personal development. For instance, his ambition is to become a project manager in large projects more often.
In addition, Niels also wants to convey his unique story to the younger generation. He is therefore often involved in activities related to Engineering Promotion from AAE, such as the Dutch Technology Festival. "I enjoy making young people enthusiastic about engineering. I do it well because I am enthusiastic about engineering myself. That definitely helps in conveying a story well."
In everything Niels does, his enthusiasm for technology shines through. This makes him not only a valuable asset to AAE, but also an inspiration to anyone striving for personal growth within the engineering sector
