Lead Mechanical Engineer AOS

Are you ready to shape the future with groundbreaking technology? At AAE, a hightech family business in Helmond, we develop complex machines and hightech systems that assemble hundreds of millions of products every year and contribute to innovations in industries including semiconductor, medical and analytical technology.

You might be our new Lead Mechanical Engineer AOS. In this role, you combine your technical expertise in mechanical engineering and machine building with providing technical leadership within projects. You take the lead on technical content in multidisciplinary development projects, guide fellow engineers and ensure that smart technical decisions result in successful projects.

Pushing technology boundaries

You will join our Advanced OEM Systems (AOS) business line. Here, we develop and build complete hightech machines and systems for customers in industries including semiconductor, medical, life sciences and analytical technology. Together with our customers, we translate innovative ideas into manufacturable machines, enabling them to focus on innovation and their markets.

Recently, the entire AOS business line moved into our new facility in Helmond. This brings engineering, production and assembly together under one roof. It means short communication lines, close collaboration and the opportunity to see your designs come to life in practice.

What will your role be?

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you provide technical direction for challenging machine-building projects. You are responsible for the technical quality of the overall design or a specific part of it and act as the technical point of contact for colleagues, customers and suppliers. You combine technical leadership with hands-on design work and collaborate closely with mechanical, hardware, software and system engineers, as well as project managers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Translating customer requirements into manufacturable mechanical engineering solutions.
  • Taking technical ownership of a module or submodule and safeguarding technical quality, manufacturability and overall coherence throughout the development process.
  • Developing concepts and creating detailed 3D designs and 2D drawings according to the V-model.
  • Validating designs through calculations, simulations, proof-of-principle testing and prototypes.
  • Supporting production and assembly during machine construction and contributing ideas to improve manufacturability.
  • Coordinating with customers, suppliers and internal disciplines to achieve the best technical solution.
  • Supporting FAT and SAT processes and contributing to the continuous improvement of our engineering processes.

The variety is what makes this role special. One moment, you could be working on a machine that supports groundbreaking cancer research. The next, you might be developing a hightech coating machine for the semiconductor industry. Within AOS, everything revolves around co-development, working closely with customers to create innovative systems that make an impact worldwide.

You will be part of the AOS Engineering team, consisting of approximately ten engineers across mechanical, hardware, software and system engineering. The atmosphere is open and informal, sharing knowledge comes naturally and there is plenty of room for personal development. You will have regular meetings with your team lead and collaborate with engineers from other disciplines and business lines.

Part of something great

AAE is about more than technology. We are a close-knit family business where collaboration, entrepreneurship and enjoying what we do go hand in hand. You will experience our culture from your very first day. We help each other, celebrate successes together and invest in long-term relationships with our colleagues.

You will see this reflected in our Friday afternoon drinks, department outings, sports activities and well-known employee parties. One thing is certain: once you become part of the AAE family, that sense of belonging stays with you.

You’ve got what it takes

You are an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys taking responsibility and gets energy from solving complex technical challenges in hightech machine building. You know how to guide colleagues from a technical perspective, are confident in making decisions and can hold your own as a discussion partner for customers and project teams.

In addition, you have:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Lead Mechanical Engineer within hightech machine building.
  • Good communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset and a natural drive to help the team move forward.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and Teamcenter is a strong advantage.

You also identify with our core values: Ambitious, Can Do, Human and Together.

How we take care of you

At AAE, work happiness is our number one priority. That is why we invest in your development, health and future. Through our extensive vitality program, we continuously support the physical and mental wellbeing of our colleagues. In 2025, we were once again named a Worldclass Workplace, a recognition based entirely on the appreciation of our own employees.

Based on a 40-hour working week, we also offer:

  • A gross monthly salary between €3,500 and €6,700, depending on your experience and expertise.
  • Annual profit sharing.
  • 40 days off, consisting of 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days.
  • Travel allowance.
  • Access to the AAE Academy.
