As a Data Engineer at AAE in Helmond, you build and manage the data foundation that enables around 550 colleagues to rely on up-to-date and reliable information.

Within the Data & Application Management team, you develop and manage data pipelines, ETL and ELT processes, data warehouses and data models. You connect internal and external source systems and work with technologies including SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric. Together with BI Engineers and application administrators, you make data suitable for analysis, reporting and new data and AI applications.

Within the Data & Application Management team, you work on AAE’s digital foundation. Together with BI Engineers, application administrators, key users and other colleagues, you ensure reliable applications, robust data flows and useful management information. In doing so, you help AAE further develop its data- and AI-driven way of working.

What will your role be?

As a Data Engineer, you ensure that data flows securely, efficiently and in a structured way from source systems to usable datasets. You build new solutions while continuously improving the existing data platform.

• You design, develop and manage data pipelines to extract and integrate data from internal and external source systems.
• You build and improve ETL and ELT processes, the data warehouse, data models and data integrations.
• You transform raw data into reliable, reusable and analysis-ready datasets for Power BI reports, analyses and other data applications.
• You monitor data flows and safeguard data quality, performance and availability. When disruptions occur, you analyse and resolve their root causes.
• Together with BI Engineers and stakeholders, you translate information needs into technical data solutions and, where necessary, support the development and improvement of Power BI reports.
• You contribute to standards for architecture, naming conventions, security, governance, monitoring and maintainability, and clearly document technical solutions.
• You explore how automation and AI can responsibly contribute to more efficient processes, better data quality and smarter data solutions.

You will also work with internal departments and, where necessary, external suppliers and consultants on data integrations and technical challenges.

You’ve got what it takes

For this position, we are looking for a Data Engineer with a solid technical foundation and preferably 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience. Do you have less experience, but does your technical background match the role well? We also encourage you to apply.

What we ask:

• A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Information Technology or a comparable field.
• Experience designing, building and managing data pipelines, ETL and ELT processes and data integrations.
• Experience with databases, data modelling and SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, data warehousing and/or Microsoft Fabric.
• Knowledge of data quality, monitoring, security, governance and the maintainability of data solutions.
• An affinity with both IT technology and business processes.
• Good command of both Dutch and English.
