As a System Engineer PAA at AAE in Helmond, you are technically responsible for complete high-tech production systems.

Together with a multidisciplinary team, you determine how customer requirements are translated into one reliable and manufacturable system. From the initial concept through to validation, you remain in technical control. And the result? You see it come to life in our own assembly hall before the machine is shipped to a customer somewhere in the world.

Within our Printing & Assembly Automation (PAA) business line, we develop and build automated production lines for international customers. These systems produce millions of products every year for industries including medical, pharmaceutical and high-tech. The technical challenge lies in bringing everything together. Mechanics, software, vision, motion, robotics, safety and process knowledge all need to work as one well-functioning production system. As a System Engineer, you oversee the system as a whole.

You balance performance, reliability, technical risks and costs, ensuring that technical decisions meet the customer's requirements. You are involved throughout the entire development process, following the V-model.

What will your role be?

You are the technical linchpin of the project, responsible for technical coherence and the performance of the final system.

Specifically, you will:

• analyse and refine customer needs and requirements and translate them into a clear set of requirements, concept design and validation plan;
• decompose and allocate requirements across the different disciplines and define and manage the interfaces between them;
• integrate mechanics, software, vision, motion, robotics, safety and process knowledge into one coherent system architecture;
• assess technical concepts and make decisions based on performance, reliability, risks, costs and customer requirements;
• discuss technical progress, concepts, risks, obstacles and solutions with the customer and the multidisciplinary engineering team;
• steer technical decision-making within the project, build support for decisions and align different interests;
• safeguard technical coherence through to machine validation and demonstrate that the completed system meets the defined requirements.

Being part of something great

Together with the Project Manager and Account Manager, you lead the project. The Project Manager oversees project execution and the Account Manager manages the commercial relationship, while you ensure that all technical disciplines come together in one integrated and feasible system.

You work closely with engineers from different disciplines as well as directly with the customer. This requires technical depth, but also the ability to explain complex issues clearly, make decisions and bring people along with the chosen technical direction.

At AAE, Systems Engineering does not stop at a design on paper. Our machines are built in Helmond. This means you and the team can see, test and validate how the chosen system architecture performs in practice.

You’ve got what it takes

We are looking for an experienced System Engineer who wants to take technical responsibility for complete production systems and can connect multidisciplinary engineering teams from a technical perspective.

You bring:

• a university degree in a technical field;
• 8 to 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering;
• experience in high-tech machine building;
• experience with requirements management, including decomposition and allocation;
• experience with system architecture and defining and managing interfaces;
• experience with machine validation;
• strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills;
• experience with stakeholder management;
• a good command of English due to our international customers and projects.

The following would be an advantage:

• experience with GAMP;
• proficiency in German.

• a gross monthly salary of €5,000 to €8,900, with the opportunity for your salary to grow based on your performance;
